Mills Pond - Wells Branch
Austin, Texas
This is a photojournal of sorts, a place to put my pictures and stories about the denizens of Mills Pond and its associated creek, both located in the Wells Branch area of North Austin, Texas. I try to identify the animals and plants featured here as accurately as possible, but I often don't have the time or the resources to do a more thorough job. As such, information on here may change from time to time as I learn new things about the stuff I photograph.
I've divided everything up into broad categories, so you can go straight to the one that interests you most, or you can just start at the beginning and cycle all the way through to the end. I keep taking pictures, I just never have time to put them up here; hence this site gets updated infrequently. The photos are either by me or my friend Eric Tilton. Neither of us are professional photographers nor do we have any desire to be, but I do use the images as inspiration for my Feeping Creatures figurines, and several of the feep product shots were taken by the pond or elsewhere in the park.
Here's Eric's bio, written by Eric himself:
Eric Tilton: secret agent, hacker for hire, dilettante photographer.
Eric first became interested in digital photography after realizing
that, having owned a 35mm point & click film camera for three years,
he'd taken a grand total of three rolls of film on it. He picked up
the digital equivalent, and never looked back. Eric's fascinated by
the interaction of technology with the world, whether that be through
the lens of a camera, or in developing applications that help others
communicate. He is not currently making or selling prints of his
work, but would like to direct you to Keynote (http://www.apple.com/
iwork) to see the animation effects he works on in his day job.
